What can I expect from a Naturopathic Consult?

A naturopathic consult is a one on one appointment with a qualified Naturopath to improve your wellbeing naturally.

Naturopathy can be used to improve a variety of common chronic health conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, allergies, sinusitis, headaches, migraines, fatigue, hormonal imbalances, diabetes, endometriosis,  polycystic ovarian syndrome, stomach pain, digestive issues, stiff achy muscles, joint pain, back pain, arthritis, poor circulation, anaemia, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, sleep irregularities,  insomnia, snoring, weight gain, and high cholesterol. Naturopathy is also valuable for acute health conditions such as colds, coughs, fever, and infections (bacterial, fungal, viral).

The Initial Consult: 60 -90 minutes

·     Prior to the consultation you will be sent a detailed questionnaire that covers your health history, current signs and symptoms, medication and supplements currently being taken and an overview of your diet and lifestyle.
·     This questionnaire helps to shape the direction of the consult and indicates areas that need more clarity and attention.
·     During the consult, we will discuss your health concerns and goals, investigate all relevant areas of your body systems and carry out physical examinations as needed (temperature, blood pressure, ears/nose/throat/eyes/nails…)
·     Any previous pathology results may also be requested and/or viewed in the consultation
·     After the consult, time and research are invested to craft an individualised wellness plan to address your current needs for the next 4-6 weeks.
·     The wellness plan will be emailed to you within 7 days and we will schedule a 20 minute phone call to go over the plan together.
·     After 2 weeks, you will receive a friendly follow up call to check in with your progress and to schedule a follow up consult in a few more weeks.

The Wellness Plan:This is carefully crafted for you based on your current health and your goals. A detailed cover letter is written summarising the focus of the treatment. The wellness plan includes:

·     Specific nutrition advise with guidelines and recipes
·     Specific herbs, essential oils and/or supplements to take with instructions for use. These are carefully assessed for any interaction or contraindications.
·     Lifestyle advice such as exercise and stress reduction techniques to improve your physical and emotional wellbeing
·     Relevant handouts with helpful info and advice.

Follow Up Consult: 30-45 mins
·     We usually schedule this 4-6 weeks after you began following the wellness plan.
·     We assess how the wellness plan is going noting any changes in symptoms, discussing the benefits and challenges.
·     Diet and supplementation is reassessed for effectiveness and adjusted as required.
·     Relevant physical examinations are also performed if required.
·     An updated wellness plan will be emailed within 7 days to continue on for 4-6 weeks.

Will I need supplements?
Some clients benefit hugely by starting nutritional supplements but we only prescribe them when and if they are needed. Herbs, supplements and essential oils can be posted or picked up from the clinic.

It is important to note that we are very happy to work alongside your current GP and health care professionals. We believe that integration between Practitioners and modalities is how our clients get the best outcome!

The Trainer Wheels of Religion

As a mother of 3 beautiful children, I have had the honour and joy over the past few years of watching all three of them learn to ride a bike. Each child's experience has been unique, however, what I learned from our last child's experience was the most significant of all.

Trainer wheels are a disadvantage.

Yup, that's what I just said. From my experience, trainer wheels were a waste of time and in fact they hindered our girls from learning to balance on their own. The bridge between riding with trainer wheels and learning to ride without them is basically the same as learning to ride a bike from scratch,

You see, we bought our third child a balance bike. Genius inventions. They are genius because they allow a child to learn balance without having to focus on pedaling. It took our son 10 minutes to learn to ride a pedal bike after riding his balance bike. It took our daughters a few weeks to get the hang of riding without trainer wheels and they were far more freaked out as well.

Now you may be asking me, what does this have to do with religion? Well, basically everything. You see, religion is just like the trainer wheels of a bike.

Religion takes away our ability to find balance from within, and dictates to us what is right and wrong. Religion allows us to live 'uprightly' with external supports rather than living balanced from within.

Religion will never replace a relationship with Love Himself - Jesus Christ. He is my inner guide to living balanced. In my opinion, living religiously hinders our ability to hear God and walk with Him personally. When Jesus walked the earth, he frequently offended the religious people, and in my experience with Jesus, He has frequently offended the religious mindset in me and challenged my views of right and wrong by speaking directly to my heart.

Although I grew up in a beautiful Christian home with loving parents, I still grew up using the trainer wheels of religion. Judging what is right and wrong based on what I was told. On my journey of walking out my faith in relationship with Jesus, I have had to unlearn relying on what religion dictates to me, and relearn the art of staying connected with Christ in my heart.

My prayer is that we will all awaken to freedom in Jesus and throw off the trainer wheels. Yes, we may fall and graze our knees. Yes we may lean too far to the left or right, but that is how we were designed to learn. The pure joy of riding balanced with the wind in our hair is the same joy we can experience riding freely with Christ at the center.

Go on. Trust yourself. Trust the Christ in You. Trust this walk of faith.
I believe in You.

The Power of Harmony

The past few years have been a wonderful journey of health and wellness for our family as we discovered the power of essential oils and natural health. It has been a fascinating journey that has opened our eyes and minds to so much more about health and wholeness.

Along the journey of striving for good health, we discovered the most powerful protection for our family was not nutrition, essential oils or even prayer, it was actually a HOME filled with love, peace and harmony.

Now don't get me wrong, I am ALL FOR nutrition, essential oils and prayer, in fact, I wholeheartedly embrace these things, however my journey has taught me that love, peace and harmony are the key that override it all (I was gonna say 'the key that trumps it all' but maybe that is not fitting during the US elections. lol). Psalm 133 puts it this way, "
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity (harmony)! It is like precious oil poured on the head."

I would love to be able to say that we have perfect harmony in our home, but that would be a lie. There have been many times when peace and harmony are not present in our home and fear, strife and anger have been present. In these times, I have learned about the power and protection of harmony.

Harmony is beautiful. Harmony is when everything is united in love. Harmony is a sweet sound. It is peaceful. It is blissful. When you hear a sound that is out of harmony, it creates discord. It is unpleasant. It causes us to not feel at ease. It actually causes dis-ease to your ears and being.

That was a big clue for me right there! Dis-ease!

We were created for harmony. Our body is designed for harmony. Love, joy and peace flow freely from harmonious relationships. When there is harmony, the bible describes it like precious oil being poured on the head (Psalm 133 as mentioned above), and you know what, that oil flows down to the rest of the body.

When my husband and I are in harmony, our home is filled with love and peace. It is just incredible. The children are happy and healthy, things go smoothly and even our pets benefit from our harmony. However, when we are out of harmony because we get offended or annoyed by one another, the atmosphere of our home changes quite obviously. There is more conflict among our children, things go wrong and I have even noticed that we become more susceptible to sickness.

I have tested out this revelation time and time again, and this has only further revealed the truth about harmony. As a couple, we have learnt the power of unity and harmony. We have learnt that nothing can penetrate that bond of love. We have learnt that if the enemy cannot put a wedge in between us, he has no way of getting in at all. This is the power of harmony that has led to breakthrough after breakthrough in our home with our health, our relationships, the atmosphere of our home and our business.

It is now obvious to me why the bible says to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit (Eph 4:3) because it is SO POWERFUL! I encourage you to test this out for yourself. Place HARMONY and UNITY as the top priority for your home today and step back and watch your family blossom. Sure, it might not happen over night, but as you continue in harmony, you will see blessing after blessing flood your home, your health and your family.

Written with much love

No More Timeout - A Place of Remembrance

As I have become aware of WHO I AM and how that impacts HOW I BEHAVE, I had a lightbulb moment that I wanted to share with you. My idea involved an upgrade to the concept of timeout. My children are currently 7, 5 and 3 and sometimes we use timeout, but not so much these days as they seem to not need it thankfully!

My idea was to change timeout, to a place of remembrance. It may look the same as a timeout spot, but the concept is vastly different as I see from a new perspective.

My idea involves a chair, which is not a seat of punishment, but rather a royal seat to remind them they are a child of God.

Children (and adults) are NOT sent there because they are ‘naughty’ but rather to remember WHO THEY ARE!

Statements like, I AM KIND, I AM LOVING, I AM HELPFUL, I MAKE GOOD CHOICES, I AM FRIENDLY, I AM FORGIVING surround the place of remembrance and REMIND us WHO we ARE (pictures may be helpful for young children).

Children do not need to be told they are naughty. They must be reminded of who they truly are. We are created in God’s image. We are not naughty. We are not ‘ratbags’. We must choose our words carefully.

Do you behave your best when people remind you of your worst behaviour? I surely don’t. I behave the best when I am loved, accepted and I remember who I am according to my loving Daddy.

As parents, let’s choose to speak LIFE over our children. Let us remind them daily WHO they are and shower them with love. When they forget who they are and behave in a way that is not OK, send them to the place of remembrance where they can be reminded of WHO God made them to be.

Feel free to use this idea and modify it to suit your family.

Let’s move from punishment to empowerment in the way we raise our children.

Blessings

Potential within a seed

Last night as I was soaking off to sleep with some music, I received revelation on the potential within a seed. Spring has sprung and I have finally got round to clearing my garden and planting seeds and seedlings. Oh what a beautiful, therapeutic task it is to garden with my children. Anyway, I had planted some seeds the day before and had remembered to water them in order to help them germinate. As I was laying there in my bed, almost asleep, the light bulb switched on and in about 10 seconds, I had a complete understanding of the potential within a seed and how it needs to be unlocked.

You see, a seed has a hard outer shell that protects all the potential inside. This hard outer covering is necessary for keeping the precious genetic information safe and secure until the ‘right conditions’. Now for a seed to germinate, it’s not about timing. I could watch a seed day after day, night after night, waiting for the right ‘timing’ but it is not going to germinate. Because a seed is not dependent on ‘timing. It is dependent on the right ‘conditions’ to germinate and release the potential within.

What are those conditions that the seed needs to germinate? All seeds need WATER, OXYGEN, and proper TEMPERATURE in order to germinate.

What quenches the thirst of your soul? What fills your lungs with breath? What enables you to feel warm, nurtured and safe? You are unique, and only YOU know what it takes. If you can answer these questions, then you have probably found the right conditions that need to be present to unlock the potential and the gift within you. And if you will intentionally foster an environment like this around you, you will find that the hard outer surface will begin to break away, and LIFE will come forth that carries the unique DNA of who you are and what you are called to release in the earth.

There is potential locked up within you that is not waiting for the right timing, it is waiting for the right conditions. It may have 1 or 2 of those conditions present, but the third element is not there. God knows that the precious potential and gifts locked up within us need the right conditions to be able to succeed…and he has designed us so that these gifts are kept safe until all three factors in our environment are right.

If you feel like your potential has been locked up within you and you can’t seem to ‘break out’ of the hard shell surrounding you, take heart, this shell has been protecting your potential until the right conditions are present to foster this precious gift within you. Be thankful for this.

BUT your next step is to take yourself from the current ‘conditions’ that are not helping you germinate, and SHIFT yourself into the environment FULL of the oxygen, water and the right temperature you need in order to germinate. Take a look at your life and the environment you currently live in, and assess the things that are preventing you from germinating. With courage and persistence, eliminate these negative factors and with JOY, recreate the environment you need to THRIVE. Because we need you, the world needs, you. The unique potential locked up within you is a gift to the world and must be unlocked.

With Love,

Raneeta

Reflections on a Wonderful Winter

I love winter. Always have, always will. It probably has something to do with my birthday being in winter but also those fresh mornings, warm food, hot drinks and snuggly nights. But winter for most people is something to be endured and something to survive.

Our family has had such a wonderful winter this year and I just want to share some of our personal victories and breakthroughs as well as some keys that I believe have helped make this a successful, enjoyable winter.

Our Language: We have shifted from talking about sickness to speaking about wellness. NOW we talk often with our kids about how healthy and strong they are; about how wonderful their immune system it; about how blessed we are to have oils to protect us from bugs.

Love and listen to our bodies: We have taught the kids how wonderful their immune systems are, and when they have had fevers, we have taught them that the fever is working hard to fight the bugs (which is the truth). We do not supress our body’s immune responses, we work with them. You will be amazed at how fast you recover when you work WITH your body.

Healthy eating: We have been upgrading our food over the past year or so and eating more seasonal, fresh and whole foods. Processed foods are FAR less and real food is what we eat! I bake healthy snacks and cook from scratch.

Essential Oils: We all use oils daily. I spike my drinks. We diffuse mornings and afternoons (especially when the kids are at the bench eating). We do bedtime massages and foot rubs. If the children seem run down, we diffuse in their room overnight. The times the children have been unwell, we have used the oils to support their immune systems and they recover very quickly.

Warm home: We are blessed to have such a warm home that captures the sun so well. But this winter we put all 3 children in one room and had a small heater on through the cold nights. This worked beautifully!

Emotional/Heart Health: This year we have also talked a lot about feelings. When I notice one of the kids (or myself) seeming down or not themselves, I ask them questions like, “Hey what’s going on?” “Is there something you want to talk about?” “Is there anyone you need to forgive?” EVERYTIME I have done this, they have shared stuff with me and we have prayed through it and released whatever was needed, usually forgiveness. After this, they perk up again and I believe this also keeps them healthy from the inside out.

So I could type all day, but that’s enough to give you an idea and maybe a few keys that you could implement in your home. Don’t just survive winter in the future, THRIVE in each season and embrace each day and season for the joy it holds. Speak life into your family and partner with life in all you consume.

I bless you with health and harmony in your homes,

Raneeta
